The Power Of Green
When you think of the color green, what themes come to mind? Do you think of nature? Growth? Money and success? Sustainability and renewal? Green can mean a lot of things to different people, and there’s a power behind that. In today’s blog, we’d like to touch on some of the ways that the Taylor Jay Collection promotes the power of green through our mission.
Inclusion
What’s one of the most common green things the average person sees in a workday (well, at least before COVID)? Traffic lights! Just as green means ‘go’ for cars, green can also be linked to encouragement and inclusivity, the latter being a value we take seriously here at Taylor Jay.
For decades, women’s fashion has marketed towards and designed pieces for “model-sized women”, i.e. slender women and petite women. The mental health damage that this type of approach can do and has done to young women is well documented, and at Taylor Jay, we strive to lead the change as our industry learns from its mistakes. Taylor Jay is an inclusive fashion brand, and we design comfortable clothes and elevated fashion that can be enjoyed by women of all sizes and body types. Inclusive fashion is empowering, and at Taylor Jay, we want to equip you to feel and look great in anything!
Growth
Green is often associated with nature and growth, but growth doesn’t just occur in the natural world. Personal growth is important for anyone, especially when it comes to self-care and paying attention to one’s own mental health. At Taylor Jay, we want to highlight the connection between fashion and mental health and promote conversations about mental wellness and important women’s issues. That’s why we’ve recently partnered with The Phoenix Project to encourage the Taylor Jay community to invest in their own self worth and take advantage of free mental health resources. Elevated fashion is about more than just making elegant style more accessible to the everyday consumer. It’s about equipping women with a smart, versatile wardrobe that they can feel more confident in. That’s the kind of growth we seek to promote as we tie in mental health as an integral part of the fashion conversation.
Sustainability
What is more green than the earth itself? It’s no wonder that seemingly every environmental advocacy group out there utilizes green in its color scheme and branding materials. Eco-consciousness is critical to our mission here at the Taylor Jay Collection — it’s partly what drove us to create our brand in the first place! Taylor Jay aims to help reduce waste and help women everywhere kick the bad habit of fast fashion in favor of our diverse catalogue of sustainable fashion pieces. There are far too many brands out there that produce cheap, poor-quality clothing overseas that wears out after a year or less. This isn’t good for the Earth, your closet, or your bank account! The Taylor Jay Collection is the best friend of any lady out there seeking to craft a minimalist wardrobe — all of our environmentally friendly clothing is produced here in Oakland and made to last. With our sustainable fashion, you can greatly reduce the carbon footprint associated with your closet and build a smart, versatile wardrobe that will last you for years to come.
Success
Aside from environmental groups, another group that often utilizes green in their marketing is financial institutions. To many people, green is often associated with success.
Fortunately for us, Taylor Jay has enjoyed a lot of success, so far, with promoting sustainable fashion! Our environmentally friendly clothing is quickly becoming one of the hottest commodities in the elevated fashion world. We’ve been fortunate to be featured on TV programs, such as Good Morning America and The Ellen Show, as well as in a variety of magazines and fashion outlets, including Allure, Essence, Huffington Post, Forbes, The Zoe Report, and 7X7. We’re proud to be a black-owned business making a name for women everywhere!
Now that we’ve highlighted a few of the ways that Taylor Jay embodies and promotes the power of green, it’s your turn. How do you embody or advocate for ‘green’ values in your life? Tell us in the comments!
