When our founder, taylor jay, designed her first collection of basics, there was nothing basic about them. Taylor Jay designs with every woman in mind, knowing a woman’s journey is by nature a multifaceted one. We all have different routines, goals, and challenges, so we need reliable clothing that will perform extraordinarily under any circumstance. Clothing that will stand the test of time and will seamlessly integrate into our lifestyle.
So we design with the idea of elevated comfort, a concept of fashion that offers a higher level of comfort and reliability. Fashion that can effortlessly transform and adapt to every woman’s needs, challenges, style, and desires. A single Taylor Jay piece can be combined into multiple outfits and our customers keep finding new ways to wear our clothing.

We study and design unique features that are easy to convert for any use and style: business formal, casual, fitness, elegant, sexy, bohemian… possibilities are endless. Our fabrics are made of luxurious, heavy duty, smart materials that adjust to a woman’s body as if… taylor’d to her figure. The combinations of features and fabrics that we offer are constantly reinvented and keep our customers excited and coming back for more.

Inclusion is the principal value upon which taylor jay is founded. The original problem our founder, taylor jay was addressing with her first collection was the fact that the fashion industry wasn’t catering to her body type and it truly challenged her self-esteem. There had to be a way to make women feel comfortable and confident in their skin. And she found the way.
The adaptability of our textiles and our generous sizing, combined with smart design features guarantee a favorable fit that can easily be adjusted to every body type for added style and comfort.

Sustainability
Women empowerment is not just about style. It’s about creating an environment that can help them thrive.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS.
Our approach to fashion is intersectional. We can’t empower women and advocate for inclusion without promoting environmental consciousness. We chose to make slow fashion because women empowerment can’t happen without integrity and social responsibility.
We partner with an ethically sourced, fair labor practicing factory in Oakland, CA to produce environmentally safe garments from certified eco-friendly textiles.
We recycle and upcycle threads and use tints that are safe for humans and environment.
We are pursuing every attainable green certification so that we can contribute to a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for our customers and they can be proud to wear Taylor Jay.
She had a dream.
Taylor Jay is the vision and pulse behind the company. A bay area native, Taylor jay has worked in the fashion industry for over 12 years. As a high school graduate and aspiring stylist, Taylor moved to Los Angeles where she studied fashion merchandising at the California school of fashion design. And it’s in sunny Los Angeles that Taylor opened her first boutique at the age of 23.
With business thriving and upon returning home to the bay area to open a second boutique, Taylor created her first collection, the Taylor jay collection, inspired by her own journey and body challenges. The clothing she designed impressed local customers and boosted demand encouraging Taylor to pursue her very own brand full time in Oakland, now home to the Taylor jay atelier.
Taylor Jay is more than just a fashion entrepreneur. Tough challenges early in her life only fueled Taylor’s pursuit of her fashion dreams. She has not only become a role model for her daughter, but for many black women entrepreneurs on the rise. She is often featured as a panelist to share her story and perspective. She hopes that her experience and designs can inspire other women to walk confidently and comfortably towards their dreams.
